About us!  Your hosts - Jeff & Marilyn

We relocated to New Mexico in 2002 from Northern California.

Marilyn worked for Trans World Airlines (TWA) and operated a corporate travel agency in Los Angeles for 25 years and retired 15 years ago.  Born & Raised in Southern California and lived in the South Bay cities of Manhattan Beach & Rolling Hills.

Marilyn also kept busy raising and breeding Arabian horses. Prior to moving to Abiquiu, she lived 15 years at Sea Ranch on the rugged Northern California Coastline and also in the Sierra Foothills at the Equestrian community of Cool in Eldorado County.

Son Jeff was also brought up in Manhattan Beach and Rolling Hills, Ca. Relocated to Santa Barbara & graduated from U.C. Santa Barbara.   Moved on to Davis, Ca. where he attended the U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.  Jeff changed professions and worked for several commuter airlines in Santa Barbara and Qantas Airways in San Francisco and Air New Zealand in Los Angeles.

Jeff also lived at Sea Ranch and owned and operated an Ocean & River Kayaking Outfitters, lessons, tour & Rental shop in Gualala on the Mendocino coast. He sold the business to become involved in Hotel and Restaurant management, decided to get well rounded in  the profession and went on to be a Chef. He attended The Culinary Academy in San Francisco and worked in many well known restaurants in San Francisco and Maui, Hawaii.

We decided to move to Santa Fe together full time 6 years ago, Jeff was an avid Sailor on the San Francisco bay and owned several sailboats,  for which one he lived on. He traded in his life on the water, for a life in the high desert. We bought a quaint quintessential "Santa Fe Style" Adobe home in Santa Fe.  Jeff became a Personal Chef and a Caterer. We decided we needed more wide open space and  discovered Abiquiu!  We bought our Northern New Mexico style Pitched Tin Roof home in Abiquiu, January 2006.  Decided to remodel the North Wing of our home and converted it to a Vacation Rental Casita and we've been booked ever since!

We enjoy the company of our 2 mares..."Shah Cherie",  Our 30 year old  Arabian and our 16 year old American Paint Horse "Valentine" In addition to our 2 Jack Russell Terriers, "Maddie and Spicy" along with our 2 indoor Cats "Pumpkin and Annie" and our new 10 month old Cardigan Corgi Puppy named "Soloman".

We hope to add to our menagerie soon to include Alpacas and a few miniature donkeys and horses and plans to build another Casita soon!

We both enjoy travel, cooking, wine and our Horses and Pets.  Jeff likes to Ski in winter and Sail in other places than New Mexico in summer!

We enjoy meeting the wonderful people that have visited and many that have revisited from all around the country and some from other countries that have stayed at our Casita de Chuparosa here in Abiquiu!
